How can I stop being constantly afraid of/worried about things in general?

  1. Worry is a monster — you need different tools to fight different types of worries.
  2. Live one day at a time — only focus on the burdens of today, not of yesterdays or tomorrows.
  3. Don’t stress the small stuff — If it won’t matter in 5 years it shouldn’t matter now.
  4. Ask the probability — what are the chances of this bad event happening? Example: The chances of you falling and dying in your shower is more than dying in a terrorist attack.
  5. Do something about it — solve the problems that you are worried about, take some action.
  6. Don’t cry over spilled milk — If something bad happens, accept it and do what’s in your control to improve the situation.
  7. Limit your worry time — How long will you worry about this thing? How important is it?…5 mins, 10 mins, 20 mins?
